Subject Request for Time extension —Transportation Development Act, Article 3 Transit Stop
Access Improvement Program
Dear Mr. Byrne:
On July 11, 2016, San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) approved funding in the
amount of$127,648 from the Transportation Development Act Article 3 Transit Access Funds for
the Central Avenue Sidewalk/Access Ramps Improvements and 7t1 Street/Riverside Drive to
Chino Transit Center Improvement Project in the City of Chino. At the time of approval, the
SANBAG Board set the completion date for this project prior to June 30, 2016.
Prior to advertising, the property owners along Central Avenue submitted concept plans for
improvements along Central Avenue, between Francis Avenue and Phillips Boulevard. According
to the Condition of Approval set for the development, the property owners will be constructing the
required improvements. Since staff scaled back the project limits, this reduction decreased the
project expenditures by $51,648. It is our desire to design and construct additional sidewalk and
access ramps near Riverside. Drive and Central Avenue to replace the reduced limits and combine
it with the currently approved 7th Street Access Ramps for a total of$127,648.
Since the completion period expires on June 30, 2016, staff is requesting an extension of six (6)
months to bid, advertise, award and complete the project by December 30, 2016.
