The railroad crossing is owned by the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (Metrolink) and serves both commuter and freight trains. The railroad grade crossing improvements will address mobility and safety concerns for students who use Cedar Avenue as the designated safe route to school for Rialto Middle School and Werner Elementary School. The at-grade crossing is located within an easy 0.5 mile walk from both schools. No other suitable pedestrian route is available for crossing the tracks. Previous TDA Article 3 Awards 2015 – Rialto was awarded $136,021 in TDA Article 3 funds for the Etiwanda Corridor Improvements. Project is currently under design and is on schedule. 2013 – Rialto was awarded $330,000 in TDA Article 3 funds for the Pacific Electric Inland Empire Trail Improvements.
