RE: TDA ARTICLE 3 AWARD
REQUEST FOR MINOR AMENDMENT
Dear Mr. Brown:
Thank you for taking time to discuss the TDA Article 3 funds that were allocated to
the Town of Yucca Valley. The Town of Yucca Valley respectfully requests a
minor amendment for the allocation of the funds.
As can be seen in the attached photo, the Town completed the improvements
identified in the original TDA Article 3 grant application, albeit with different funding
! sources. Pedestrian sidewalks were completed on SR 62 between Sage Avenue
and SR 247, in addition to sidewalks from SR 62 to the Senior Housing Project
and the Yucca Valley Community Center. Additionally, a traffic signal was
constructed at the intersection of SR 62 and Dumosa Avenue, providing controlled
pedestrian access to/from the Yucca Valley Community Center and the
commercial shopping opportunities on the south side of SR 62.
As discussed in our phone conversation this week, the Town is currently bidding a
public works project, which when complete, will result in the San Bernardino
County, Yucca Valley Branch Library, relocating from the Yucca Valley Community
Center, to the former Pomona First Federal Bank building, located at the south
west corner of Joshua Lane (SR 247) and 29 Palms Outer Highway South.
The minor amendment being requested by the Town would allow the TDA Article
3 funds to be used to construct sidewalks/pedestrian access on the south side of
29 Palms Outer Highway South, between Dumosa Avenue and Joshua Lane.
These sidewalks would provide a safe pedestrian path and route between the
Yucca Valley Community Center and the County's Yucca Valley Branch Library.
I would be happy to follow up next week with any additional information necessary. Planning
I hope that this initial request helps you with the internal deadlines for agenda (760)369-6575
preparation and other administrative issues. Public Works
