As part of the project, approximately 1 mile of trail, both asphalt concrete and decomposed granite, from Bryn Mawr Avenue to California Street and Alabama Street to Tennessee Street, will be constructed within San Bernardino Flood Control (Flood Control) right of way in Redlands (City). Currently, 100% drawings have been submitted to Flood Control for review and approval. However, during production of the Water Quality Management Plan it was discovered that infiltration is not allowed along the project footprint due to an existing contaminated plume. As such, additional drainage retention and grading design is needed to meet this requirement. Revised design is anticipated to be completed in early Spring 2020. Upon design completion, City will work with Flood Control to receive an encroachment permit for trail placement within their right-of-way and advertise the project for construction. In the award letter for the grant, dated July 11, 2013 with an ancitipated completion date of June 30, 2016. The city is appreciative of the subsequent time extension requests granted and is, once again, formally requesting another time extension to December 31, 2020 to complete the project.
