Re: 2026 TDA Article 3 Annual Report – Twentynine Palms
Dear Lisa Chou,
The following is an annual proof of progress report for the Channel Trail Class I project in the City of Twentynine
Palms.
Over the past year, the Sherwood Engineering team completed all foundational engineering tasks necessary to
support the 30% design milestone. This included the Geotechnical Investigation, which provided subsurface
information for structural and drainage design, and the development of the Base Terrain Model and Existing
Conditions Model, establishing accurate topographic and environmental baselines. The team also completed
Proposed Conditions Model Iterations, refining the preliminary alignment and grading concepts for the trail
corridor.
Environmental work has begun, with Environmental Compliance activities underway, including initiation of
CEQA review and preparation of technical studies. Although environmental clearance is not yet complete,
substantial progress has been made toward meeting regulatory requirements. The team also prepared initial
Permitting Documentation to support future agency coordination.
Design progressed through the 30% milestone, including preparation of 30% plans, specifications, and a cost
estimate, followed by a formal 30% Design Review. This milestone establishes the project’s preliminary
geometry, cross-sections, drainage approach, and key design features. The project is now positioned to advance
into 65% design once environmental clearance is further developed.
At this time, we estimate 35% - 40% of this project is completed with an estimated $240,000 spent. At this time,
no extension is required.
Sincerely,
Georgy Herrarte
