Project
Need:
Before
September
2010,
Omnitrans
in
Chino
Hills
consisted
of
OmniLink,
a
dial-‐a-‐ride
system,
and
Route
65,
which
at
the
time
only
served
the
Los
Serranos
neighborhood.
In
September
2010,
Omnitrans
introduced
OmniGo
Route
365
to
Chino
Hills.
OmniGo
Route
365
(commonly
referred
to
as
OmniGo
Chino
Hills)
is
a
community
circulator
that
augmented
and
partially
replaced
the
previous
dial-‐a-‐ride
system.
OmniGo
is
a
traditional
fixed-‐route
service
(bus
stops,
published
route,
published
time
table)
compared
to
OmniLink,
which
was
a
shared
rider
reservation-‐based
service.
At
the
same
time
that
OmniGo
was
added,
Omnitrans
restructured
one
of
their
regular
routes
(Route
65)
to
serve
the
Chino
Hills
Civic
Center
area
(adjacent
to
the
proposed
project
area)
while
before
it
only
briefly
served
parts
of
Chino
Hills
in
the
Los
Serranos
neighborhood.
Since
September
2010,
64
bus
stops
have
been
added
in
the
City.
Since
its
inception,
OmniGo
(Route
365)
ridership
has
risen
dramatically.
In
FY
2010
Omnilink
and
OmniGo
combined
ridership
was
approximately
12,520.
In
2012
it
had
more
than
tripled,
rising
to
approximately
54,344.
Additionally,
the
routes
in
Chino
Hills
are
heavily
used
by
students,
more
so
than
other
routes
in
the
Omnitrans
system.
The
routes
in
Chino
Hills
have
been
modified
to
add
trippers
to
serve
Chino
Hills
High
School
and
Townsend
Junior
High
in
addition
to
the
routes
the
school
had
already
served
(Ayala
High
School
and
Chaffey
College
Chino
Campus).

tremendous
growth
in
student
ridership
growing,
from
7%
of
ridership
in
FY2007
to
19.8%
in
FY2013.
In
order
to
continue
this
increase
in
ridership,
the
City
of
Chino
Hills
would
like
to
install
bus
stop
pads
at
the
above
noted
11
bus
stops.
Omnitrans
will
then
provide
shelters
and
benches
free
of
charge
to
the
City
(shelters
will
have
advertising).
Providing
bus
stop
pads,
benches
and
shelters
will
make
the
bus
stops
more
accessible
to
riders,
and
will
provide
a
clean
place
to
sit
or
stand,
and
shelter
from
the
sun,
wind
and
rain.
While
many
of
the
bus
stop
locations
are
already
accessible
with
existing
sidewalk
curb
ramps,
new
ADA
regulations
now
require
modified
slopes
and
the
addition
of
truncated
domes
for
easier
accessibility
by
blind
and/or
wheelchair-‐bound
individuals.
This
project
will
bring
all
11
bus
stop
locations
into
full
ADA
compliance.
These
bus
stops
represent
17%
of
Omnitrans
bus
stops
in
the
City
of
Chino
Hills.
