By converting an existing dirt pullout into a VVTA-standard bus turnout, complete with a concrete pad, shelter, companion seating, and a 10-foot-wide connecting sidewalk, the project will close a critical sidewalk and transit gap. This small investment will have a lasting impact on accessibility, safety, and mobility for residents who rely on public transportation. The Apple Bear Bus Stop 20055 is located on Bear Valley Road eastbound, just east of Apple Valley Road, and is served exclusively by Route 43. Located in the heart of Apple Valley's busiest commercial corridor, this new stop is a lifeline for residents who rely on public transportation every day. With over 53,000 vehicles passing daily, there are no continuous sidewalks or ADA-compliant access. Riders are forced to stand inches from fast-moving traffic or traverse uneven, unsafe terrain just to reach essential services. This is not a minor inconvenience it's a daily hazard that puts lives at risk and isolates the most vulnerable in our community. From people with disabilities to individuals who cannot or choose not to drive, this transit upgrade will provide the necessary enhancement to ensure people can access amenities by using public transportation Attach Photos, Apple Bear Bus Turnout.pdf 818.01 KB Documents, and a Photos of Existing Stop-Apple Bear Bus Turnout.pdf 13.6MB Letter from Local Transit Agency Art 3-Submittal Form-Apple Bear Bus Stop .pdf 131.45KB Location Bear Valley Road, 357'east of Apple Valley Road Priority Number: (If 1 agency submits Note that up to 10 stops can be combined into one submittal. multiple projects) Daily Buses 18 Daily Boarding& 4 Alighting Agency Owns ROW Yes No ROW Easement Yes Required No Cost Effectiveness Project Cost(K): 175,014.00 Matching Funds(K): 35,002.80 TDA Project Funds 140,011.20 Requested(K): Matching Source: VVTA/LTF Previous Awards & Status Project Evaluation Criteria Overall Quality of Application: 15 pts Project Need and Purpose: 30 pts Cost Effectiveness: 20 pts Timeliness of Prior Project Completion: 15 pts Matching Funds: 20 pts have read the (1)the total award amount will be rescinded if the agency fails to submit a Claim Form guidelines and and Authorizing Resolution within SIX months of award notification, and understand:* have read the (2)two one-year extensions may only be granted without SBCTA Board approval IF: guidelines and (a)progress has been made on the project, and(b)an extension request including an understand:* appropriate justification for the delay and a revised project completion date is provided THREE MONTHS BEFORE the project sunset date.
