SUBJECT: TDA PROJECT RELEASE OF FUNDS – CUCAMONGA CREEK CHANNEL
MAINTENANCE PROJECT
Dear Ms. Koblasz,
The City of Rancho Cucamonga (CITY) respectfully requests the release of grant funds awarded
to the City for the Cucamonga Creek Channel Maintenance Project.
In 2021, the City submitted a grant application to SBCTA for TDA Article 3 funding and was
awarded funds in the amount of $84,415. The original project scope was to crack fill, slurry seal
and stripe the existing Cucamonga Creek Channel Bike Trail from Foothill Boulevard to Base Line
Road. In 2022, the City was awarded additional funding, due to an increase in cost for the overall
project, in the amount of $78,000 for a total award amount of $162,415.
Since then, the City performed additional field investigations of the pavement conditions and
observed severe distress which would require full reconstruction of a large portion of the project
limits and significantly increase the total project cost even further. Due to the increased cost, the
City has decided to not advance this project at this time. The City recognizes that these funds
may be better suited for other current or upcoming projects and would like to respectfully request
the release of the TDA grant funds.
If you should have any questions related to this request, please don’t hesitate to contact me at
(909) 774-4057 or by e-mail at Cesar.Guevara@cityofrc.us.
Sincerely,
ENGINEERING SERVICE DEPARTMENT
